I dont want to simply move all of these files from the PC to the NAS as then I would still need to back them up on something other than the NAS - and the only thing that I would have with enough storage to back it up to would be the PC. I have no interest in it going via the cloud. Changes on the NAS for these never need to be replicated back to the PC. PC Data director/Photos -> NAS Data Directory/Photos PC Data director/Movies -> NAS Data Directory/Movies PC Data director/Music -> NAS Data Directory/Music Ideally, I would like the existing media directories on the PC replicated on the NAS. It could be done overnight or every N hours etc. This needs to be automatic as I dont want to many copy files every time I download more music, pictures from my cameras, etc. This is so that the Plex server on the NAS can see them and provide them around the house. I would like the media files that I have on my PC replicated to the NAS. not easilly accessible individual files that Plex can access. (Key files are also backed up to the cloud.) This creates crash plan repository i.e. I am currently backing up the PC to the NAS using Crash Plan's local backup option running on my PC. The unRAID storage is visible on the PC as a mounted network drive. So far the only other thing that I have running on the NAS is Plex. I have had my share of issues with external drives using USB 2.I have recently set up an HP Gen8 microserver as a NAS using unRAID. The discussions in the various posts leads me to believe you probably had equipment (Hard Drive) and/or usage problems. Thankfully, I find that FreeFileSync is very stable and has done an excellent job for me ever since I started using it over a year ago. Any help is VERY appreciated.ĮDIT: The space is still being taken up, so the data is still there.ĮDIT: chkdsk reports that the drive has a RAW filesystem.ĭo you continue (after review and analysis) to think FreeFileSync is what destroyed your files. How boned am I and/or is there a way to fix this? The photo backup is complete, but I had other things on that drive that weren't backed up yet. Restoring the Recycle Bin didn't do anything except for bringing back a few of the photos that were supposed to be deleted from the destination drive. I only pointed FFS to the image folder.įFS has closed after completing but the drive is still plugged in. The folder structure is there and some files are still showing up, but even those appear to be corrupt. I've just run FFS to refresh my photo backup, and the external HDD I was copying from now shows almost no files.
